I just came back from my trip to Japan, where I had the best time of my life while visiting beautiful cities, eating the best sushi and discovering the new culture. A few years ago I had a fantastic chance to work and live in China, and during that time I felt in love with Asia. Every day since I moved out from Shanghai I was missing the food, people, big cities until the day when I got my ticket to Japan 🙂

I had one full day in Tokyo and decided to spent it on my way… After landing in Narita Airport I went straight to my hotel, and after a quick shower, I went to make my dream come true. I have always liked good movies, especially those that the action takes in a hotel. One of them is of course “Lost in Translation” made by Sofia Copolla. Few days before my flight to Japan, I got in touch with fantastic Kathy who made an appointment with me. Imagine how stressed I was when my flight was a little bit late – I wanted to be on time for my meeting at Park Hyatt Tokyo.

After meeting with Kathy at the main entrance, we have started the best adventure in our blogging career. It wasn’t only an exciting hotel tour, but also Kathy was very kind and friendly to us, and she replied to any of our questions – Thank you so much for your hospitality.

 

While crossing the main entrance to the hotel, you will be welcomed by “Gutsy” – handmade mask created by Japanese artist Mieko Yuki, who’s pieces of art can be found in another place.

When entering the main lobby, you will be surprised and interested by “Airflow” the work made by famous sculptor and painter Anthony Donaldson. This British artist communicates the spirit of the hotel to it guests thanks to his artwork. This bronze and steel sculpture provokes questions and make everyone stop for a moment and think. Isn’t it the best part of modern art? Even after your check out, you will still have this unique sculpture in your mind.

 

 

Mieko Yuki also created whimsical ceramic muses and jesters you can find next to the hotel’s gourmet shop and eatery “Delicatessen.”

 

 

 

 

Park Hyatt Tokyo is a perfect spot for those of you, who are looking for a luxurious accommodation, perfect location (in a vibrant area of Tokyo – Shinjuku) and of course an interesting history. I would say this is a right place for movie lovers – you can discover your hotel looking for scenes from “Lost in Translation” movie.

The hotel occupies the top 14 floors of this building that is visible almost from anywhere from the streets of Shinjuku. Three tapering towers were designed by the internationally known architect Dr. Kenzo Tange also known as the father of Japanese architecture. Each tower is of the different size so that almost everyone can have access to a spectacular view of the city.

While walking inside hotel’s corridors, we felt there like in a home thanks to charming interiors, beautiful furniture and warm lighting that make it looks very comfortable but still luxurious. In Park Hyatt Hotel you can find a big art collection gathered by American designer John Morford who designed Park Hyatt Shinjuku and commissioned internationally acclaimed artists and sculptors to create pieces of art for the hotel.

If you like to read books while staying at the hotel but forget to take your favorite, you should visit hotel’s library. You will find there a selection of 2,000 and more books about history, art, culture and more. Park Hyatt Tokyo also has a wide CD selection.

 

 

These dreamlike, beautiful and catchy paintings of Yoshitaka Echizenya are displayed all around hotel in public areas such as the library. You can also find his artworks in each of the guestroom and suite bathrooms. When you look at them, you feel like in a different, imaginary world, which is beautiful.

 

 

Inside the hotel, you will find few different food & beverage outlets. One of them is elegant two-story Japanese restaurant Kozue. On a bright day, you can see Mount Fuji while sitting and enjoying your delicious food. In their menu, you will find a wide selection of traditional Japanese dishes, desserts, and extensive sake list.

 

 

Thanks to Girandole restaurant you can feel in Park Hyatt Shinjuku like in the heart of Paris. All around the walls you can admire 144 black and white photographs of French photographer Vera Mercer. As you can see pictures were taken in a small European cafe capturing people during their lunch, dinner or meetings with friends while enjoying delicious food and drinks. You are welcome to visit Girandole for your breakfast, lunch, light snacks and dinner. This place is perfect for a romantic dinner or relaxing lunch with friends.

 

 

According to me, the most spectacular restaurant is New York Grill (together with New York Bar) located on the 52nd floor with an open kitchen. This restaurant is a unique place for all New York City lovers as thanks to the food, music, and art that make you feel like in your favorite city. On the painting, you can see scenes from famous New York’s landmarks such as Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, the New York Yankees and the Rainbow Room. There is nothing more exciting than having an excellent food with a spectacular view of the Tokyo’s skyline. At the Park Hyatt Tokyo, you can find five restaurants, two bars, and patisserie all supervised by Chef Thomas Angerer.

 

 

Inside the restaurant, you will find a famous New York Bar where you can sip on your favorite drinks while listening to the jazz band. This bar, is a place where the famous scene from  “Lost in Translation” movie was filmed. We also had a chance to sit in the same spots that Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray during the scene when they have met at the hotel 😉 We could feel like movie stars for the moment 🙂

Club on the Park occupies 45th and 47th floors and is 2,100 square meter. This well-known Fitness and Spa Center is a place for those who love to keep fit during their travels and like to relax. Under the big pyramid on the 47th floor,  you can find a big swimming pool (20 meters long) where you can relax after a long day in Tokyo and fitness center. If you like to run, then you have to use their treadmill and run straight to the Moun Fuji, as during the good weather you can see it in from of you. If you feel tired, you can go to the 45th floor where you can relax in Spa and use some of their services like massages, facial and body treatments.

 

 

The last place we had a chance to visit was Peak Longe, a bamboo garden located on the 41st floor. All the tables are located under glass atrium which gives natural light and an impression of eating in the sky 🙂 Their menu offers tasty cakes, desserts, drinks but also light cuisine and delicious tea. We had a chance to taste some of their dishes and relax in this beautiful surroundings with the most beautiful skyline of Tokyo.

 

 

 

 

At the start, I have ordered my favorite hibiscus tea. I’m a huge fan of herbal teas, and at the Peak Lounge, there was an excellent choice of different flavors.

As a snack, they also gave us Japanese cookies and hot towels to refresh hands. Everything was looking beautiful and very elegant. The service inside Peak Lounge was excellent, and the staff was always making sure that we don’t need anything.

As the main dish, I have ordered a delicious toasted sandwich with chicken, cheese, and vegetables.

My sisters choice was an Earl Grey tea with toasted ciabatta sandwich with chicken, bacon, and tomato.

We couldn’t resist of not ordering anything sweet 🙂 Our choice was Manjari chocolate crepe and green tea – raspberries sherbet.

 

 

It was a fantastic afternoon spent in the best hotel in Tokyo. During my next visit to Tokyo, I will consider Park Hyatt Tokyo as a place to stay at least for one night, to experience a stay in such a luxurious property.
