Can I have a glass of wine ? Stoney Ridge Estate Winery

Hello everyone,

I decided to welcome the first day of Spring 2016 by travelling around the Niagara Escarpment & Twenty Valley area. As I am passionate about wine, studying wine in school. I love to learn as much as I can about wine. So I wanted to visit this part of Ontario which I had been told is an amazing place to find great wine and beautiful wineries.

I had started my trip by visiting the Stoney Ridge Estate Winery. This is a very charming Winery, offering more than 30 products of wine as well as complementing cheeses. I was completely smitten by their garden area. Being that it was still during the early spring and cold, the gardens had not yet started to bloom. Even so, I could already imagine how lovely it was going to look once it had and can’t wait to come back in the early summer to sit, drink their wine with a nice cheese platter and appreciate its full bloom beauty.

I walked around the property a little bit and then decided to go into the retail store. Inside I met with the beautiful Laura, who was a very informative and passionate wine connoisseur working at the front desk. She gave me a lot of wonderful ideas of where to go in the Niagara on the Lake, Niagara Escarpment & Twenty Valley region. Laura informed me that the region organizes a lot of events, which I can’t wait to attend. To find out when these events will take place, I will be subscribing to their Newsletter.

Stoney Ridge Estate Winery has also parternshiped with Johnny Reid at the production of their red wine called “Red Tartan”. They also offer exclusive clubs such as the “Wine Club”, “Barrel Thieves” and “Cheese of the Month Club”. They also carry +20 varieties of cheese per year such as Applewood Smoked Cheddar or Manchebo, which sound really tasty.

At Stoney Ridge for only $10, guests can reserve Wine Tours. When taking a tour, every guest will be welcomed with a complimentary sample of wine. You will then be taken on a guided tour to the vineyard, followed by their state of the art winemaking facility, then barrel cellar where you will have the opportunity to see the complete journey from vine to bottle and taste 2 more of their award winning wines. You can also participate in a Wine & Cheese pairing or just taste their wines. They can even prepare a reception (such as weddings or corporate meetings) in their estate. According to their package offer they can accommodate up to 80 – 100 guests in different places on their property. Their menu has very well selected dishes, perfect to pair with their wines. Again, I can’t wait to go back there during the summer season for a garden party, where I will be able to enjoy their wine, paired with their food on their elegant property.

Stoney Ridge received a lot of awards in different championships, events and fairs. The history of this Estate started in 1985 under the direction of Winemaker Jim Warren.

If you’re in the area or feel like discovering something new, you should definitely stop by at Stoney Ridge and taste their EVERYTHING!
