I just got back to Toronto from my trip to New York and Chicago. I need to admit that I really love visiting different places in USA to see how different they are, and it’s always exciting!

While visiting Chicago a couple of days ago, I popped in to visit HI Chicago Hostel for a tour. When I entered their lobby I was welcomed by Kyle the front desk agent who was happy to let us visit their building. From entering HI Chicago I felt very welcomed, which sometimes I don’t get even in the best hotels.

In the main area where guests can hang out is very friendly and offers great opportunities to network. In HI Chicago Hostel everyone is welcome, where ever you are coming from. Their main quote says that “HI USA is founded on an enduring belief in the power of travel to foster a deeper understanding of people, places, and cultures for a MORE TOLERANT WORLD“.

As you know me, I love to travel and I believe that this is the best way to learn about our beautiful world and cultures to become a more open minded person. I believe that HI USA is an amazing Hostelling organization which helps Young and older travellers to visit new places at good prices and meet new  friends from all over the world to become citizen of the world!

This Hostel is located in Chicago’s downtown core, close to lots of main attractions (museums, shopping areas and restaurants) as well as subway stations. Room prices start from $34 per person in dorm rooms and $119 per room in Private rooms according to their website . If you want to visit Chicago on a budget, make new friends, feel welcomed all the time and have free WIFI and breakfast then I recommend to choose this place.

In HI Chicago Hostel you can participate in their weekly events such as Hot Dog tastings, story tellings, language classes, Happy hours, movie nights, walking tours and much more. If you don’t really know what to do and where to go in Chicago do not worry! Hi Chicago Hostel team will help you to recommend the best places for you to go!

After visiting their website I have discovered a lot of things from Hostelling International. They are located in most of the countries from all over the world and organize internships as well as volunteering possibilities. Currently HI Chicago has a few intern positions so if you want to get a valuable experience, you should apply asap!

I feel very thankful to HI Chicago for letting me visit their property as I have learned a lot about Hostelling International. Not only because of their  amazing lodging options but also about how much they engage into communities life and give a lot of opportunities for young people. I will definitely visit more Hostels all around the world to share with you my experience.
